(My Note: Watch how the dichroic glass earrings are fused. Also, Did you know you could make your own fusing kiln? Interesting…) Jerry Webmaster, CraftingGlass.com
This is a sample clip of an instructional video for the building of a small glass fusing kiln. It can be used for the pre-heating of glass rods for beadmaking, and for annealing beads. Parts in 2005 cost $200 to build. Runs on 5 amps, 110 volts, so it just plugs in to a regular household socket. The video is intended for people with no kiln building experience, so is slow paced, thorough instruction with emphases on modifying the design to meet you own specific requirements. The full 2-dvd set also has demonstrations for the making of a complex bead, glass jewelry production, and the making of small mosaic dishes. Please see www.mayneislandglass.com for more info. Please look at my other sample clips from other videos, and my various tutorials on glassmaking.

Welcome to CraftingGlass.com! Crafting Glass features videos, articles, pictures, and blogs on making and caring for beautiful glass objects. Whether it is information on stained glass, etched glass, or glass beads you will find it here. The sources for the tools and supplies you will need for crafting and maintaining decorative glass likely will be found here as well. Tips on buying, installing, and repairing window glass are provided on this web site also. For a list of categories please look in the column on the left side of this page. Please feel free to comment (blog) on any article or video. I also welcome suggestions for new articles, pictures, or videos in the broad catagory of “glass” (use the “contact us/me” page), How awesome can glass be? Well, just look at the beautiful images below for some idea of the beauty and versatility of glass.

hey guys, i wanna know where i can go to in person to buy rods and tubing for glass blowing. i know i can purchase them off the internet, but i would rather go and pick the supplies up in person. Like what stores for example? thanks!
Unless you live in one of a very few cities, you are going to have to have it shipped to you. Some of the products, especially soft glass tubing can be had from sign supply companies for neon tubing work. Many people who do bead work with torches use compatible stained glass intended for fusing, cutting it into strips. Check out www.hotglass.com for sources. If you happen to live in those places, you can drive to buy it. www.arrowsprings.com is (I think) in Colorado and http://www.waleapparatus.com/ is on the east coast.
For those of you who don’t yet have a glass crafting skill please find several glass bead making videos and links just below this post. It is sort of “entry level” information but I think you (even you moderate level beadmakers) will find it interesting and useful.

Please view these interesting videos found just below this post. Both are very short. The Christmas ornaments one (how does she stand that heat?) is only a little over a minute. That vid is from ExpertVillage.com (link below). The video on colors of glass available from a supplier is not much longer. The maker of this is MoltenArtGlass.com (link below).
I encourage you to comment on these posts or on any video, picture, or post on CraftingGlass.com.
Don’t forget our contest to find “The most beautiful glass window in the world.” The link to that is several posts below here.

This well known web site does much more than just try to sell you new windows.Andersen Windows web pages has loads of information to help you decide what style and type of window to choose. Look at the “information” page for tips on construction (for you handy people). Find glass window design ideas here as well. On other pages you can even “tour” great looking homes. I would rate this Andersen Window site as one of the best commercial sites on the internet, IMHO.

I have found a US company that supplies the above mentioned only to its region. I would like to explore making glass magnets with my family, students and churchmates.I believe it could really make a great hobby to some, to give away or sell as inspirational gift, etc. I need at least 100 pieces…. Please advise. Thank you:) 1)By the way, any tips of making, protecting and marketing them? 2)What’re “the best ways” to display them; first for gift and second for marketing purposes? Any wholesalers/ ebayers out there (could be from US, Canada, Asia, etc???) that supply good quality plain glass magnets with reasonable price in bulk to international buyer like me? I have found a US supplier on the web site that deals with it the above. Sadly, its supply only covers the US region at the moment. I’m serious and genuinely would like to venture into this business with you guys and respect your expertise and advice. Please do contact me, “my prospective business partner”.Together, we hope for the more to come. Thank you. P/S: What are the sizes, shapes, colors available? Which is the most popular and saleable one? Thank you for your answer but I have tried the ebay and found out that the glass magnets with design are for sale at the moment but not the plain one. I just need the contact of the wholesalers that shift the above mention to International buyer like me. Glass magnets are not easily available in my country, not to mention the selling price is too expensive and unreasonable. It’s OK, I will try other ways. There must be a way, just yet to be discovered. I won’t give up.
Sorry there was so much to read in your question I am not sure that I got it all, have you tired EBAY as yet? www.ebay.com Good luck
I heard of how you can do it without one melting but it was a while ago and now I can't find it. I remember some of the supplies you needed were glass slides, cardboard and superglue. I keep thinking I got it from Martha Stewart which didn't come up with anything… =P
Any help would be great!
Thanks! ![]()
All the material has to be below freezing. Catch a snow flake or two on a piece of cardboard and using a small pocket knife that has been out in the cold for a while and gently transfer it to the frozen glass slide Take the super glue and make a small circle around the snow flake and with out squeezing the two pieces of glass Gently lay it on top leaving the snow flake undisturbed It has to be kept frozen or he will meet the same fate as Frosty
like get all the resin out.
cut of a small square of scourer pad, push it around with a cotton bud. seen it done, worked 4 them
Gallery Glass is one of the name brands, you draw/color your design on a piece of plastic, once dried it peels off and you stick it on your window. You can also purchase Gallery Glass kits through hsn.com or iqvc.com – sorry, can't remember which one has them. I would think a craft store like Michael's would have kits/supplies.
