This is a sample clip of an instructional video for the building of a small glass fusing kiln. It can be used for the pre-heating of glass rods for beadmaking, and for annealing beads. Parts in 2005 cost $200 to build. Runs on 5 amps, 110 volts, so it just plugs in to a regular household socket. The video is intended for people with no kiln building experience, so is slow paced, thorough instruction with emphases on modifying the design to meet you own specific requirements. The full 2-dvd set also has demonstrations for the making of a complex bead, glass jewelry production, and the making of small mosaic dishes. Please see www.mayneislandglass.com for more info. Please look at my other sample clips from other videos, and my various tutorials on glassmaking.

hey guys, i wanna know where i can go to in person to buy rods and tubing for glass blowing. i know i can purchase them off the internet, but i would rather go and pick the supplies up in person. Like what stores for example? thanks!
Unless you live in one of a very few cities, you are going to have to have it shipped to you. Some of the products, especially soft glass tubing can be had from sign supply companies for neon tubing work. Many people who do bead work with torches use compatible stained glass intended for fusing, cutting it into strips. Check out www.hotglass.com for sources. If you happen to live in those places, you can drive to buy it. www.arrowsprings.com is (I think) in Colorado and http://www.waleapparatus.com/ is on the east coast.

I have found a US company that supplies the above mentioned only to its region. I would like to explore making glass magnets with my family, students and churchmates.I believe it could really make a great hobby to some, to give away or sell as inspirational gift, etc. I need at least 100 pieces…. Please advise. Thank you:) 1)By the way, any tips of making, protecting and marketing them? 2)What’re “the best ways” to display them; first for gift and second for marketing purposes? Any wholesalers/ ebayers out there (could be from US, Canada, Asia, etc???) that supply good quality plain glass magnets with reasonable price in bulk to international buyer like me? I have found a US supplier on the web site that deals with it the above. Sadly, its supply only covers the US region at the moment. I’m serious and genuinely would like to venture into this business with you guys and respect your expertise and advice. Please do contact me, “my prospective business partner”.Together, we hope for the more to come. Thank you. P/S: What are the sizes, shapes, colors available? Which is the most popular and saleable one? Thank you for your answer but I have tried the ebay and found out that the glass magnets with design are for sale at the moment but not the plain one. I just need the contact of the wholesalers that shift the above mention to International buyer like me. Glass magnets are not easily available in my country, not to mention the selling price is too expensive and unreasonable. It’s OK, I will try other ways. There must be a way, just yet to be discovered. I won’t give up.
Sorry there was so much to read in your question I am not sure that I got it all, have you tired EBAY as yet? www.ebay.com Good luck

I remember some of the supplies you needed were glass slides, cardboard and superglue. I keep thinking I got it from Martha Stewart which didn't come up with anything… =P

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

All the material has to be below freezing. Catch a snow flake or two on a piece of cardboard and using a small pocket knife that has been out in the cold for a while and gently transfer it to the frozen glass slide Take the super glue and make a small circle around the snow flake and with out squeezing the two pieces of glass Gently lay it on top leaving the snow flake undisturbed It has to be kept frozen or he will meet the same fate as Frosty

I would think a craft store like Michael's would have kits/supplies.
